Sean David Johnson is a TV Executive and Showrunner with more than twenty years of experience developing and producing some of cable television’s most popular programs. He has worked within a diverse array of genres including Reality, Comedy, News, Pop Culture, Digital and Live Studio.
Currently, Sean is the Executive Producer and Showrunner for My House, a new series on Viceland following the lives of members of New York’s Vogue Ballroom scene. Recently, Sean served as Showrunner and EP for a series of behind the scenes Love & Hip Hop specials for VH1 and the BET social experiment reality-dating pilot, Love Room. Sean also served as EP and Showrunner for the studio based Logo special, Secret Guide to Summer. Additional recent Showrunner credits include: the Bravo reunion specials Shahs of Sunset (S6), Below Deck(S3), Southern Charm (S2) and the E! comedic-reality series, New Money.
Sean’s additional work in Reality TV includes serving as Co-Executive Producer of Season 3 of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop.
Sean spent ten years as an executive at VH1 where he created, developed and produced some of the network’s most buzzworthy and successful pop culture programming. As executive producer of Best Week Ever, he cast the talent, managed a staff of thirty-five and oversaw all aspects of the show. Sean also produced I Love the 80s as well as a number of music-focused programming.
Sean began his career in television as a news producer. After starting out at PBS working on public affairs specials with Brian Lehrer, he moved on to the world of 24-hour national cable news. Sean was part of the original team of producers who launched Fox News Channel. There he produced breaking news events, crafted in-depth interviews with newsmakers and launched the live daily show Your World with Neil Cavuto.
Sean also produces and hosts The Perfect Podcast featuring in depth interviews with tastemakers on something in culture they define as perfect or ideal. He also co-hosts and co-produces the weekly pop culture podcast Inside Pop.
Throughout his career Sean has specialized in launching hit series, developing innovative pilots and producing attention-grabbing specials. He has contributed his creativity, dedication and collaborative spirit to additional networks including BBC America, Fuse, and CBS.
Sean is a proud member of the Producers Guild of America. He serves on the PGA East’s Screening Committee and Diversity Committee and was a member of the 2016 Nominating Committee that was tasked with electing the east coast chapter’s Board of Representatives.
